Or maybe its a negative experience that you have been through- what ever it may be let today be the day you fight for yourself- because your worth it.

Meet the digitally disenfranchised, no more denial or excuses, just solutions.

Meet the digitally disenfranchised. In fact if you’re over 13 a meeting is as simple as looking your mirror. Oh hush! Quell your protests, another distinctive trait of this group is that they always deny. The reason being, that being behind in technology is strictly taboo. The world demands one be quick with the latest technology, and if you’re not, well, you haven’t evolved. Let your colleagues catch wind, and they will no sooner put you on a raft and push you out to sea, to die a professional death alone.

In this competitive market it is hard to admit ones technological shortcomings, yet it is inevitable that we all have them to some degree. You may be wondering why I picked out an age as young as 12? The reason is because those kids of the millennium aren’t like us, not really. They grew up in a world surrounded by digital innovation, their toy, an i-Phone, their consolation, a game console.

Yes I understand, you think you know technology because you can swiftly use Facebook and Twitter, have a firm grasp of Instagram, an interest in Pinterest and had a blog…somewhere… once. What you fail to realize is that whilst joining Facebook was a decision for you, for them it was an established right of passage.
Whilst we seek to keep on top of the latest social media trend, for them it is second nature. They are like fishes gliding through the changes, adapting and taking their ability for granted, whilst we are like divers, who brought a suit. Yes we can swim, but not without effort.

If we are to be honest, we know it is true. Just one look at your 3-year-old nephew, tapping away at an i-pad, and you know that his generation is of a different kind. Admittedly there are a few among us who have truly grasped technology like second nature, but these, dear friends, are mutants - of which most of us are not.

So, you may wonder why I insisted on doing that - verbally grabbing hold of you and forcing you to admit the facts you have denied for so long. The reason is I wish to help you.  Acknowledgement is the first step. The second is to seek help.

Whilst you may never catch on as quickly as those enviable millennium freaks, you can admit your shortcomings in the form of seeking wisdom.  Its high time you admitted that you don’t know how to use all the features on your new flashy i-Phone, or how to properly use a mac.

The treatment? Seek out the new social sites, software and technology, and make yourself familiar using YouTube videos. Apple offers tutorials with their products in store. I know it is in public, but be brave and go!

Trend wise, it pays to be ahead, instead of lurking behind in silence, like some scruffy kid, who woke up half way through class, and is afraid to admit that he has no idea what’s going on.  Queue Twitter where you can follow people who were awake and took notes (if you don’t know how to use Twitter, enlist the help of your 3 year old nephew).

Fellow brethren of the 1900’s, I say this because I care.  Whilst we may never be a fish, it’s about time all of us admitted the value of swimming and took it seriously. There is no point wearing the costume, if when the tide comes in you can’t float. Buying the latest technology doesn’t matter if you cant utilize it. So do your self a favor- do better. Learn, get faster and fiercer, for those millennium kids wont be 12 forever… and that raft is itching for company.

I'ts the weekend fool! Indulge

Ok before I get started, lets have a moment for all the under appreciated warriors who work in Retail on the weekend. For them this 'back off' aaah moment to exhale does not apply :( But If you are lucky enough to own your weekends, this message is for you.

Hello you 9-5 superwoman storm trooper. You have braved it through the London traffic, the delays, annoying co workers and work initiatives that have no relation to your actual life, but have taken up more time than you have dedicated to yourself all year. Now is the time to breathe- claim some you time & indulge. Its tempting to go all YOLO all weekend, but the good Lord knew what he was talking about when he said take one day to rest. So, here it is, your must have , back off ME day.

Begin with easing your pretty self out of bed, except you don't feel so pretty? Late nights and stress have you looking like the troll under the bridge and the goats in '3 billy goats gruff'? No matter, take some time to pamper yourself.

So here is the plan

Bath's are the most accessible luxury that we all fail to take advantage of. Question- Why do we all fuss so much about a hot tub with strange old men at our gym and fail to take advantage of ours at home. Ok, I can hear you, " It's not a hot tub its a bath... no bubbles". Well I say its a fair trade, trade soaking in the juices of creepy old men for the privacy of your own home, and trade bubbles for essential oils, bubble bath and candles.

#1
Set The Scene

Get your self some scented candles
Lights:
Its amazing the difference lighting can make, I don't like sitting in a dark tub, or a bright interrogation light, so a happy medium is an array of candles scented to relax. Parisian brand Diptyque are famed for their quality scents. Check out their Anniversary collection 34....if your'e fancy. If not, head down to your local pound store and get yourself some French Vanilla ones....and you can bring more Paris luxury into your bath on the next point.

Music:

Get some Jazz, I am specifically feeling French Jazz right now,  but if you prefer bopping your head to English, Lana de Havas &Laura Mvula are great newcomers, whilst Floetry , Zero 7 & and Lemon Jelly, Jill Scott and even the odd Q- Tip song can make amazing rewind remedies. Beyond that go old school with Nina Simone, Aretha, Frank Sinatra & my favourite, Nat King Cole.

Before you get in the bath grab some essentials. Grab a mud mask.
Now, Grab some magazines, some fresh juice coffee or tea and just soak.

Take this time, to do your face regimen or condition your hair (with all that lovely steam). Aaah.
When you are done , moisturize with some body butter and finish off around your neck with some perfumed creme. My favourite? Jean Paul Gaultier for that classic , oh so feminine magic..

Feel refreshed?

Now try this beauty secret to seal the deal.  To get rid of dark circles, grab half a lemon and squeeze onto it 3/4 honey. Massage onto face, leave for a few - and then wash off with cold water.

Now you are ready to start your day... Take it easy awesome, and I suggest treating yourself to a cupcake. Well you have to have some You Only Live Once spirit in your weekend.

L A W of Life : Enjoy every moment.

Love Lois

5 ways to Feel Better

Must have head starts, since even the sun cant be bothered to get up

Bah! it has been a dull week, and if you are anything like me it took a little more then coffee and a sheer will to get you to 100% . Well enough being battered by winter - I say we paint our sunshine. Girl here it is, 5 ways to feel better now.

Start your day on Purpose

Get up with a routine, rushing round just makes you look tired and you hair crazy. Crazy face and hair ain't sexy, and its hard to feel confident when you look like poo- FACT. So what do I do about it? IGNORE that Snooze button and start my day on purpose. Then this gives me time to light some scented candles, play some good morning tracks, decide what I am going to wear, tackle my hair and get on with my day. I know that sounds annoyingly perky, and trust me,  some mornings I struggle, but you know what? those extra  minutes you wrestled out of your alarm will do you no favors, when you spend the day apologizing for your lethargy. Start the day on your terms.

Pop Your Colour

Nothing makes me feel better then a splash of colour - its not just for the 90's , guests on Ricky Lake or Euro vision contestants. Seriously! Stop wearing head to toe black you're not 60 ! Who says that colour is just for summer? It is time to dress your way out of the winter blues. If you are not as bold as the beautiful Clara here then start with accessories, and work your way up to block items, anchored with a dark colour staple jacket or pants and then what the hell radiate head to toe.... like Solange here.

Ps. I love you Clara but no one shall dare bring back the bom bag. Nooo! not even you.

Freakin Awesome Hair

Freakin Awesome hair. Sorry it has to be said. Awesome hair makes you feel awesome. On days when you cant really control much else a beautiful barnet is sure to keep you smiling. Now I don't know what hair you have & if you are anything like me, you hair has the propensity to rebel.

Here are some tricks for keeping it under control and getting the mane you desire.

- the hair dryer. Overlooked as a salon tool or something for rushed upside down drying- the hair dryer is often overstepped for its counter part the ceramic straightener. However I am going to campaign right now for the comeback of the hair dryer in everyday good grooming. Used with the right ceramic backed round bristled brush it builds body, use heat defence first to avoid frazzles and enjoy the floaty feelin'.

Treat your Tummy

So I am awful when it comes to this, I just pump tasty rubbish into my body and expect it to run like a machine. No fair- and no, I am not going to get on you about healthy living 24/7 because girl that ain't my style but on days when you need the boost, make sure you have some fresh grapefruit and vitamins to kick your but into gear. In general as a woman it is so important we keep up on vitamins that encourage energy, to protect the world with the crazy that comes with being over worked and under appreciated ( aka a mother, sister, friend, woman). I just started on some Iron & vitamin C , D and B supplements. They don't even taste bad, so there is no excuse not to pep your step from within.

The Small Things
Take care of your self girl. It is ridiculous the JOY having your 'nails did brings' . Stop  shamefully hiding your chipped nails & treat yourself to a bit of pride. If you live in London- The London Esthetiques Student Salon- will give you a beautiful set for a even more gorgeous price. And if times are hard still- go treat your self to some of my favourite good value brands - Barry M, Miss Sporty and NYC. Boom !

And there we have it 5 ways to trick yourself into feeling its summer....and before you know it it will be. Hang in there my lovelies!

Oscars Glam : Best Dressed 2013

Well if you're anything like me, barricaded in by the relentless icy grip of winter, its nice to see someone, somewhere wearing something strapless. These Hollywood stars made me smile, vicariously enjoying their moment in the sun. I mean forget the dresses , I would swap with a homeless man in Hollywood right now. Any whoo these dresses were too beautiful to not share so here it is my Annual Oscars Best Dressed.

1.
 Giorgio Armani

Boom - that's one sexy Red Head!Jessica Chastain expertly avoids making her fair skin washed out with the wrong colours. This beautiful golden nude dress with art deco detail  crystal overlay is to die for, making her my favourite look of the day.
L A W // of life know your look & work it be you to the fullest.
Kristen Stewart in Reem Acra

This is bitter sweet for me because I don't love K-Stew -  she usually looks grungy, dirty and awkward but  this is none of these things. I love how she looks in this beautiful Reem Acra Couture dress. I love Reem Acra ( see earlier NYFW post) and Kristen  makes this gown look young and chic. So yeah, she's alright... it turns out a beautiful dress can change everything. Go Kristen.

Woohoo! My girl,  the beautiful Kerry Washington is all shades of happening in this Mui Mui gown. Elegantly understated, Kerry decides against jewellery and allows the bold neck embellishment to do the talking. She looks a million bucks.

Valentino knows how to dress a woman , and Jenifer Aniston looks beautiful in this bold red evening gown, with a luxuriously full skirt and sculpted waist.

Charlize Theron lets her face do the talking with her cropped haircut and simplistic Dior white gown, complimented subtly with Harry Winston Jewellery.

I may just like this because it's Jenifer Hudson and I am impressed with how great she looks for losing all that weight- I don't usually like front slits ( tacky) but I do like the fabric and shimmer of this midnight blue fitted dress. So yes I guess its not just Jen, I do love this Valentino gown.

George Clooney's plus one Stacy Keibler ensures all eyes are on her in this bold yet subtle, powerful yet elegant Naeem Khan metallic gown.

Amy Adams floats on a cloud in this dreamy Oscar De La Renta gown.

Guilty pleasure here as this gold may be criticised by some for being a bit tacky, but I just love how regal Catherine Zeta Jones looks in this Zuhair Murad gown.

Sandra Bullock looks as lovely as the night sky ( corny but whatever) in this Elie Saab beaded gown

The IT List : Gold, Felder Felder, Chanel and the East

I have been coming across a number of things I simply must share , so I am starting a tradition.  The It List.a compilation of all the random things in the week I see & love.

The It
I.
GOLD

Vogue Italia highlighted the comeback of gold & just had to re-blog. Gold is back- so all you fools who sold yours for cash, you can cry now, pay later. I love gold- when it is done right. Gold compliments my skin tone, and since summer is coming soon (I was promised) , it will suit all the tans that will no doubt follow.

Vogue  Italia  Trend list

It's no surprise that the Italians who have a heritage for opulent glamour are starting the campaign for the re election of gold. They have got my vote :)
Something to keep you holding on till the sun shines: these gorgeous D&G sunglasses.

Jason Wu revives Saturday Night Fever for the 21 st Century whilst Balmain revives the regallity of east and west.

The It
II.
Felder Felder AW 13 at LFW

Sensational sisters Annette and Daniella Felder exploited what I love most about Autumn : the opportunity to experiment with textures, and colour whilst layering up against seasons changes. Inspired by the 70s, Felder Felder re-visited an era rich with texture, opulence, attitude and colour , and gave it a millennium makeover utilizing new fabrics to create  visually stunning combinations.

Velvet & Latex

The IT
 III.
Chanel Lego Bag

Rumoured the 'IT bag' of 2013, Chanel's Lego Bag had to make it onto my it list. Now, I am not one to break the bank for a hand bag, but even I want this...so I guess I better bust out my old Lego set and get to work... :)

IT List

 VI.
The STYLIST : Asia Edition

Asian Supermodel Miao Bin Si introduces herself to London with a stunning editorial for The Stylist.

I love to see Asian models in western media, in fact I love to see a healthy variety of multicultural  beauty represented in the fashion industry. With the dawn of the Chinese new year came a record amount of Asian models on the runway of LFW :This shoot celebrates progress for representing diversity in fashion.

Enjoy visual & cultural benefits by loving thy (global) neighbors...

And my own personal IT ... Classic inspired beauty-
