Weekend Chill.

There is nothing like the sound of St Pauls bells on a crisp Sunday morning. After staying in the city for a quick indulgent city break, Kieran and I took to the east London Streets to enjoy the sun. Even if it did come with ice cold gale winds. Not taking any chances with the cold I went the whole 9 yards and just piled on those layers. I think I did a good job of remaining stylish, I wore cashmere fur lined cape as a scarf, because a regular scarf just wouldn't do and I didn't want to wear the cape under my jacket as it just makes me look fat. Wearing oversized capes as scarves is s good way to get a new fresh look and add an extra layer of warmth. I also wore my vintage fur hat for £40 second hand this is one of the best items I have brought, from Canada to Ireland to the UK this hat has kept me warm through so many winters. Both items were purchased from iconic London markets, the cape from portobello and the hat from a vintage shop in Camden market which sells a range of 2nd hand fur.

New Yorks Finest

New York really brought it to the table, hot , steamy and delicious like mommas pie. The theme for this fashion week seems to be celebrating the strength of femininity. Fur made a strong appearance, but not in a 'slap dash' manner, rather it was used thoughtfully to reinforce the concept of femininity. Fur itself is a perfect representation of the elements of a strong woman- what can seem intimidating in presence in reality translates into something that is in reality soft to the touch, beautiful, unique by nature and protecting by function. Now, I don't know if the designers considered all of this when choosing fur ( it is after all Autumn winter) but it was defiantly the right choice for designers Alexander Wang, Donna Karan and Chaudo Ralph Rucci who used fur to accent strong silhouettes.  My personal favourites were Alexander Wang , Donna Karan & Reem Acra who redefined the boundaries femininity, upholding its strength whilst maintaining the trademark of a woman subtle sexuality, routed in confidence and strength.

Alexander Wang

Wang did what we know and love him for, taking geometric and architectural design and making it feminine and beautiful. His pieces communicated strength without compromising desirability. You could imagine a bad ass boss lady wearing the pieces on crowded wall street and standing out equally for strength as femininity.

Donna Karan

Donna Karan shines as she confidently works from a full creative melody of fabrics to create looks that  cleverly show the feminine silhouette ,  not from an over sexual male objective- Donna craftily manages to celebrate the female form from a position of empowerment through beauty.

Reem Acra

Lebanese designer Reem Acra is mainly known for her bridal wear, however there was nothing submissive about this collection. Bold and fiercely beautiful her pieces were made for an individual independent beautiful yet strong woman not unlike Reem herself. The collection juxtaposes embellishment and luxury whilst still maintaining attitude. I love it!
